I saw it on the website...it stated that they sent the letter out on Monday. Thinking ahead, I have a question. What is it in Packet 3 that needs to be returned to the consulate? Is it just the DS-230 Pt.I, or is it Pt. I & II. On another website I saw, it said that only Pt. I had to be returned to the embassy. Just want to make sure that's still true since you've just recently completed your process...Also, on page 3 (which is actually Pt. II of the DS-230) it said all fees should be paid in US currency or the equivalent...but, I've looked on the USCIS website and Jamaican Embassy website and do not see any fees associated with this form...what are they talking about??

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

OK, then you still have a ways to go, I. It has to now go to the National Visa Processing Center, still here in the US. That took us roughly a few weeks. However, if can take a lot longer depending on if they have any visa number left in your category for the year or if you need to wait till the next year. There is no way to know this until they send you out the letter. Once you get that letter from the Visa Processing Center, go make a copy of both approval notices you get and mail off those originals to Gregory (right name?) immediately. If you want to speed them along in JA, he MUST go to the embassy with those approval notices (between 7:15-10 a.m. M-F, no JA or US Holidays) and get his next bunch of paperwork. After he gets that paperwork (a technicality) he can turn in the DS-230 immediately and make an appointment for his visa interview. He has to go pay the $100 fee at this time, in order to make that appointment. If you choose not to go this route, it will take weeks to get the notice and paperwork from JA. He then must still either mail or take the DS-230 to the embassy, and then wait for them to mail him a notice of his appointment. It was 3 weeks after Jomo was gone, when he got his notice in the mail.....which means for us, it took about 7 weeks for him to get the first approval notice in the mail.

He must take the DS-230 Part I to the embassy with him to make that appointment. The other parts go in with the Visa interview.

There is no packet 3 at all. In fact, there is no packet 2. Just 1 packet. That packet contains all the forms I mentioned up above, plus the info. on the doctor's visit, and all necessary associated info. needed.

Packet 1 may refer to the first mailing with the DS-230. The 2nd would then be the appointment information. We bypassed all that by going to the embassy.

The only associated fees is the $100 for the appointment. The other $405 is what we paid here when we filed the permanent papers and biometrics fees.

I found out last night that the NVC received and processed our petition on Wednesday, so hopefully it won't be there too much longer. I will probably go ahead and fill out the form for Gregory , but I do have to ask you a couple of questions about some of the questions on the form. I will pm you.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

This frustrating adventure continues.......got a letter from the UCIS late last week. They can not process work permit until we send a larger color copy of Jomo's passport. So, I storm over to the UPS store, copy his passport photo page and visa (with photo) page, making it twice as large, and color, and mail it off to them again. All the while I am thinking.......could they not just have color copied the pages we already sent them......and did it really need to take them 11 weeks to inform us of this? So frustrating.

It is people like you who are the crown jewels of your country. It is so wonderfully refreshing to know that all Jamaicans are not evil toward american women. Thank you for your honesty. However, I would like you to comment on the below information if you would be so kind.

The gov't makes it hard for a reason. They know that 99.9% of women who marry them end up losing their health, wealth and have their lives destroyed. Many, many jamaicans hate americans and are using these marriages as a tool to commit a hate crime. That is why they turn into vicious abusers as soon as they land on american soil. I don't understand why you get defensive if anyone else posts something that isnt chipper and merry about this "saga". Bottom line....it's alot of work and money$$$$$. And I know plenty of US folks that went through this "saga" that secretly wished they didn't. I'm always curious to know, why you don't see more men filing for Jamaican women? Or better yet, how come you don't see or hear of Jamaican men already up here filing? Things that make you go hmmmmm??!?

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Our first bout of bad news..........Jomo got a letter from the USCIS regarding his work permit today. They denied him. We filed when he was a fiance and since they took so darn long to process, his temporary 90 day stay expired. (we filed this way back in June).

Even though I sent in a copy of our marriage cert., copy of permanent paperwork filed receipt, and biometrics receipt, with the additional paperwork they requested (i.e. a copy of the same passport page I originally sent in ONLY bigger), it must not be enough to extend that 90 day window in their eyes.

I called our local office and we have an 8:10 a.m. appointment tomorrow to talk to an immigration officer and find out what he can do to get this employment authorization while they are processing his permanent paperwork. I am sure it will involve more BS paperwork and $$$$$.

More tomorrow on this subject.
