Nor Nooses Wound Around
Obsidian Snapped Necks.

The Sails Of
Once Triangular Trades
Habe Been Replaced
By Freight Liners
Laden With Fantasies
And...
Varying Shades Of Chocolate Erased
By Pictures
Of Pale Painted Dieties
Fallacies
Regaled From School Days
From The Jaded Details
Of Blinded Historians
And We Now Rely
On Homespun Tales
Handed Down
By Our Grannys
Throughout Generations
To Form The Foundation
Of Memory...
When Did We
Forget
Skin Razed Bare From Bodies
Seared By Torches
Or Our Daddies
Hung By The Beams
Of Plantation Porches?
Was It When The Tripple Forked Toungue
Of The Cat'o'nine
Ceased To Sing Songs
Across Our Backs
Or Perhaps
When The Tracks
Of Treadmills
Began To Tone Limbs
Rather Than
Grind.. Or Sever Them

How Can We
Remain Numb
When The Refrain
Of Abeng
And Congo Drum
Are Silenced By The Desperate Song
Of Young Ones
Raised In Zinc Fenced Slums
Centuries Old Rum
Seducing Father
And Then Son
The Siren Call
Of Distilled Spirits
Sustaining Mental Doldrums
Do We Truly
Fail To Remember
The Embers Of A Tropical Sun
Burning The Lips
Of Babes Barely Weaned
Or Whispered Pleas For Aid Unheard
And Blistered Bare Feet Rarely Seen

Cry Shame When
The Once Proud Vessels
Of Ebony Children
Now Seek To Slake
Their Thirst For Procreation
In Men
Whether Oriental
East Indean Or Caucasion.

Women And Men
Of This Great Nation
Rise
Dare To Exercise
Your Right To Decide
It Is For These Freedoms
That Our Ancestors
Fought And Died
Daily We Desecrate The Memory
Of Menelik, Marcus Mosiah
Malcom, Martin Luther And The Messiah,
When We Abide

Jamcan I tried

Lost Girl

She walks
Red light streets
Most often
On tired feet
With blurred vision
Foolishly panders
Seeks a destination
Aimlessly wanders
Burnt bridges
Long before
Had enough
Yet wanted more
Her smooth curves
Couldn’t conquer the world
Her oysters
Were missing its pearl
Now lays back
Bills to pay
On her knees
But never to pray
She has fallen
Oh so deep
Her ambitions
She could not keep
At times
A chance to reminisce
Of the stars
She placed a wish
Those days
Of simple innocence
Replaced with
A decadent experience
Now sits lost
All alone
Even though
She is living just
Two blocks from home
