i liked your essay a lot. its a funny ting dat about jamrock for some of us. first time i set foot years ago i felt this tremendous deja vu and feeling of home. i could not describe it. since that time i have come to realize that it is home to me, tho i was nevah born deh, i feel like i was!

since the culture, music, people, food of the islands are the things that make me happy.

first time some one told me, "yah walk like a Jamaican gurl" i felt it was the nicest compliment paid i in me life!

glad to see so many others feel the same.

Funny, the first time someone told me I dressed like a Jamaican, I was flattered, as well.

I am glad this was brought back up. I feel the same way and everytime I am in JA and something happens I smile and say its a part of life. Funny I was talking to my honey about moving there and he says hes worried I will get homesick and be miserable! I said shoot I am miserable and homesick here!!!! People who argue against it just dont find that life for them. They think JA is just a vacation, but to me its part of who I am and has been for a long time.
Heres to JA and those ETJers who love it same way!!

So what is it? Some sensory memory in our genes? reincarnation?

I have never considered myself a tourist in the Caribbean - but would so in say Paris or even NYC. Tho' i love to travel and experience the culture everywhere, the culture in JA feels like MY CULTURE.

right now i would not be sittin' in front of my computer if i didnt want to get my fix of IRIE FM and feel that connection before heading into babylon (lord i am gonna be laaate for work!)

It is sensory....For me, it's the bright beautiful colors, sounds, and peoples. But, I will never deny the beauty of the island is shadowed by the beauty that shines within Jomo. Without him, the island would not be the same for me. I was lonely and homesick every time I came home too. Turns out, it was him.....always and only him I was truly missing.
