I would never user her to endorse any product I own because you just dont know what will come out her mouth next or what she will do next. No class whatsoever. No tact.

Anyway thats my piece once again
I only saw the finale and that's because Sweets created this thread. No, I didn't see the pearl incident but now you make me want to get the tapes from the entire season. (A friend of mine can get them for me.) But, from that one episode, I could see she had a long way to go. Her reaction to Tyra telling the last three that they were the shortest finalists ever was astonishing. She jumped up like a dude and said something like, "Yup, that's just what I was thanking!" I think she almost grabbed for her crotch. My goodness is all I have to say. I HAVE to get those tapes now!

The other dynamic is that Eva is someone who could easily be taken advantage of because she's so eager and star struck about everything. She'll believe everything they tell her without making a rational decision. I hope she is not run through the mill. You can see right away in Ya Ya that she would be the type of person to read her contract word for word to make sure she got everything she was promised from UPN.

Re: America's Next Top Model

U never know what a person has inside. Were seeing her now as she is still high off the win. Eva has come along way and I watch the show cause its more than the ok u got to look this way and that way they give u guidence and u follow it or u dont. Thats how u advance YA Ya changed her whole look in this bussiness u have to. Take a look at what the judges is giving u and work it and Eva most def worked it. Eva is from L.A. which is were I am from she my have never been in a situation of that exposure ever she attended Washington Prep High which is the worst school to attend in LA. For her to come as far as she has is a pearl of lifes longest struggles. I dont know her personally and I do and truely love YA YA vibe she was pure beauty and natural even with her skin problem she ova came the obsticle and made it all the way too the top two. Eva is deffinately a different type of beauty u may see here as having no class, but I give this girl from the hood much respect for going out there and making it happen lets see what she does with it and how many girls from the streets of LA looks upon her for their own guidence and self love. You can always learn how to have class

I also am from the hood, the worst city and block in my state. I give it to her for making it as far as she did. I'm certainly not knocking her for that. What I'm saying is that there were two finalists at the end. One had beauty, poise, intelligence, diplomacy, etc. The other just had a pretty face. Choosing Eva, when she wasn't the more well-rounded candidate, just proves that there is still one ideal of beauty in this country. I agree that Eva couldn't help where she was brought up just like I couldn't. But, that industry is ruthless and I hope that the people around her will truly help her to develop so that she is taken seriously and not just considered only a pretty face. Given the fact that she's the first black woman to win, that's very important.

Nandii my girl you hit the nail on the head. We are happy that a black woman won yes but you had 2 and when you look at the qualities of both there is no doubt that Yaya is better. Is Eva being set up to fail? Will she represent us black women as best as possible or will there be one embarrassing episode after the other?? Is this purely for entertainment so the next time when Tyra gives an update she will have some juciy detail to tell. As I said Yaya would definately threaten Tyra's career I have no doubt about that so she selected a black woman who would pose no threat to her. Tyra is saying this field is too small for 2 intelligent black women. Thats all.

You know I dont hate Eva I just dont think she was the best person and you can only hope for the best given the decison made. But as I said too many times when we are placed in certain postions as blacks whether Americans or Jamaicans etc we are already doomed to fail because we are unprepared and not given the proper resources etc and then when we fail we are made to look like fools when they are the ones that placed us there in the first place.

Re: America's Next Top Model

I understand were ur coming from!! If she is as determined to suceed as she was to win she will do well. I am not sure of her back ground, but I just hope that she has
a strong family background thats there to support and lead her in the most positive
direction possible within the situation. As has been said the other ladies will not take her under there wings and guide her. U can look at it from all sides but she has to see
that this is a huge job position and that presenting her self in the most positive way is what she has to do or she will be back in LA looking like a fool. Theres plenty of us from the hood that has survived and made it to the top and stayed upon top. Yeah in this coporate run world expectations are set and I do hope she has the mind set to be her best pray and let Jah lead her the rest of the way...This may have been Evas last chance for survival. Ya YA will be fine and I know that we will see her again doing well.

Re: America's Next Top Model

You guys I guess are not taking it in to consideration that Eva was one of the youngest contestants she is only 19 years old while Yaya is something like 24, so yes Yaya is mature highly educated well traveled est... Eva still has a long way to go, I think she's had a rough upbringing causing her to be that tough, unrefined, diamond in the rough that we saw. I am sure with this new opportunity she will learn poise ,etiquette and how conduct to herself properly in public. I on the other hand am just happy that a woman of color won this season.

Just like in the music industry, they like to sign artists that are too young to know their rights and before long they are swindled out of all their money. Ya Ya was two years older, 21. Besides, I really don't think Ya Ya had the traditional COVER GIRL "look" so to speak.

I am happy that a black woman won but do you realize that you just stated a number of reasons why Yaya should have been selected as Eva is too young and not ready and not fully prepared for the cut thoat industry that modelling is. I just hope she survives. But Yaya is grounded and more able to deal with the rigors and demands of the industry. Yes Eva is a diamond in the rough but like any diamond to get the best shine from it it has to be carefully cut and polished or its forever runined and has no use to the jeweler and the value of the diamond decreases. Eva needs some polishing and reshaping.

Re: America's Next Top Model

Well lady's as i said in my previous thread to each his own.I strongly agree that Yaya is a strong black sister, but does not say she posses all the qualitys the judges were seeking. In life it pays to be humbly,be agressive but not pompous. In my opinion I found alot of her strategys to be incorrecctLet us shine light on the episode when she was to eat the sushi, what did she do,did she eat it as the other models no.Her respond is that it was horrible. That is insulting the client and theer product, and the list goes on.....

I said that because I think the whole modelling world is kinda useless. Models represent abut 1% of the REAL population. And aren't there BETTER things to cry about besides the fact that you got booted off a show that's looking for the most superficial person? Probably some real ugly people out there are a lot more beautiful on the inside that these chicks on the front of a magazine.
