Known for his blue eyes and classic good looks, he is a Hollywood "legend". Played all kinds of roles, usually a pretty-boy rebel type. Many, many movies.
He lived not far from me here in Ct. Not everyone knows how much he gave to charity- 200 million, I believe, from his food line. All the proceeds were given away- mostly unfortunate kids and a drug abuse foundation in memory of his son, Scott who ODed.
I saw him and his wife in small out-of-the way restaurants many times. Everyone here always gave them his privacy, as he HATED the celebrity, the main reason he moved far away from Hollywood. Boy, the wrinkles were way more prominent in person! And he hated people asking to look at his eyes!
My brother used to work in a very upscale antique shop in Woodbury. When he and his wife wanted to shop, the owners shut the place down to outsiders. They had a pool in back which PN hung out at while Joann shopped. My bro witnessed him drinking an entire case of beer in the course of the afternoon, every time he was there.
He car-raced at Limerock here, among other places, going at incredible speeds, I believe til he was 80. His wife could't stop him - made him happy.
I guess I liked his movies with Robert Redford and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Liz Taylor. Rest in Peace.

I didnt know his son had died. I always respected him for staying married for so long. Rare in the world of Hollywood. Yes its sad to see him go.

I loved Paul Newman. A class act all the way around. I am saddened by his death.

I feel like going to rent "SlapShot" in his honor.
