sorry sweetie, but you have to cut it off. The perm is not just going to come out. Permed hair stays permed forever even if you stop perming it, its already been broken down by the harsh chemicals. I'm starting to go natural and I had midlength hair and I really wanted to go natural and was tired of perms so I just had to suck it up and cut some off. Now I was too chicken to cut all the way to the new growth but I cut about two inches and put in braids and when I take the braids out I'll cut another two inches and so on. This is the hard way to do it, the best way is to just cut all the way down to the new growth and start fresh. I commend you on going natural its sooo much healthier, not only can I see the difference, I can feel the difference also. My natural hair is sooo much softer than the permed hair.

hey! i'm also a natural sistah.. even wen i hav a perm...nuthin happens,,,it lasts only for a short while....i have the authentic west african nappy hair, so wen i stopped the relaxers over 5months ago, it looks like a perm has never touched it....u have 2 understand dat ethnicity also plays a big role in dis.....my hair usually goes back 2 kinky after 5-6 wks of my perms. itz a natural 'fro so it must alwayz be in braids for me to maintain it. i also have extremely thick and curly/kinky hair.

well am not to sure, I have been thinking about going natural, but everytime i try i end up wanting a style that need my hair to bee straight. So i guess thats not going to be for me not time soon. I love my big hair styles

wish i could help girl but my hair so stright it slides out of a ponytail!!! but hey im trying to go natural as in colour wise!! my hair been coloured so much i dont know what natural is anymore!!! good luck its a pain waiting on hair to grow! my daughters is soooo slow i want it long enough to braid it!! it just bounces around in a load of curls!

hehehe!! ma natural hair's so nappy, it can't stay down on it's own unless it's hot combed are permed. but i usually keep it in braids

anoda suggestion for you kiki. you dont have to cut it at all. just grow out the relaxer. you may cut off about two inches anytime you notice a new growth but u really dont av to cut it at all. the permed hair will eventually cut on it's own.
