Skin care

My eldest daughter has eczema. It doesn't bother her that often anymore - I use senstive soaps in her bath and put lotion on her every night. However, I have noticed that there are a couple of spots on her face, where she did have small patches previously, that are now a lot lighter in colour than the rest of her skin.

Do you know of anything I can use on her to even her skin tone to get rid of these lighter spots? Or will they even out on their own over time?

Re: Skin care

they will indeed fade on thier own unless these are her "hot spots" In this case, her flare ups will continue to cuase discoloration in those areas.
i have found natural shea butter (melted down in hte microwave) to be a good skin conditioner! also, if you can beleive it, Selson Blue, (dandruff shampoo) works on flare ups of ecema.

Also, she may need to see a dermatologist! i would not use Ambi or any other "toner" on a child (which is what ppl uae to even these spots)

Good luck, Excema is hard to deal with

Re: Skin care

Thanks for the info - I will buy some shea butter tonight.

And thanks for the tip on Selson blue for excema flare-ups! I will try that. She doesn't have it really bad - I remember seeing a young girl ages ago that had scratched it so much it had scabbed over! She doesn't seem to get that much itch with it - thank goodness!

Redness, Pain, Sewlling, Discarge, Hot or Fever are signs of infection. Use some Hydrogen Peroxide and clean the wound site then put a triple Antibiotic like Neosporin on it. If you see pus then you may need a stronger Antibiotic.

Re: Skin care

Cetaphil (cream in cold dry months, lotion in warm humid months) works so good.
I always reccomend it for eczema and dry skin.

I am more of a natural girl...like using butters (shea, cocoa, mango, almond) but those didn't work for my skin....reluctantly tried Cetaphil and will never turn back.

U can get it at any drug store, Walmart etc...about $12 US but so worth it.
