my hair is very thick and my scalp gets very dry, so I am tempted to wash my hair "too often" whilst its locking (so ive been told) so how often should I shampoo in the locking stages?....... and what should I be using on my scalp. I have been advised not to use the hair pomades like Dax and so on, as they create too much build up in the hair, but to use natural oils, I've been usisng Keracare Essential Oils but my scalp still gets dry after a day.
my friends daughter has had her locks for 3 years now they were done professionally, she was told to wash her hair once a week, she also has a peppermint cooling scalp spray she used to use initially....
Ok.......well I too cheated as LR would say started mine via sisterlocking but they have gone crazy and you would never tell now that they were not started the traditional way. I have heard different things about the shampooing process/regularity, so mi really confuse pan dat........the peppermint cooling spray sounds very pleasing, probably similar to some of the menthol stuff that is on the market.
yes she still goes every 1-2 months to have them locked properly.....was also told to use shampoo such a nutorogena shampoo..or similar that no colour, dyes perfumes etc

DONT PUT DAT ON YOUR HAIR!!
u making it more complicated dan it have to be.
if you start by sister loc...den its my understanding u have to continue or at a certain point u will break at that stage..
but IDK cuz im not a fan of the sister loc
but let me tell you...u shampoo your hair once a week...or once every two weeks...whatever makes you feel betta. NOT too much cuz you will dry your scalp...uneed the essential oils in your scalp for healthy hair.
Also, u should make OLIVE OIL ur best freind. right out of your cabinet. u can add fragrance to it if you like, but it works wonders. i twist my hair with the olive oil and moisturise it as well.
Also, melting down some natural shea butter in the microwave! this is good also.
as for shampoo...i use a coconut milk shampoo and conditioner...aloe vera works good as well.
some pp llike a product called Carols Daughter...they have a "tea" rinse"...that i hear is good..its pricey though
Do you guys have a lush store near by? I know a few people with locs that use some of the natural shampoo's and conditioners from there. I don't know much about this so only you ladies would be able to verify whether this is a good one to use.

Yes I do them every 6 weeks but the sisterloc technique if done properly should leave the ends to lock naturally, my back and side ones have locked but the crown of my head where the hair is softer and gets the least friction thats taking longer.
When you twist your hair does it stay put or do you wax it?
Yes mi dear di lemon grass twist oil sound good, can I get it online, who mek it?
My friends daughter uses the nutrogenea shampoo every other week she is mixed so her hair is black texture and blond in colour....
Every person who has locks does things differrently...the place in Toronto called Strictly Roots where she had hers done also told her she can use regular dish soap to wash her hair once a month....
Her locks are beautiful and locked tight but it has also been since she was 12 and she is almost 16 now
