personally, i don't bleach my skin. nor do i know why others would. men do it too. i know one who does.
but, i have an opinion as to why they do it. they're not content with their color. so, they attempt to change it by bleaching. just a theory.

What's bad is when you see women with like 3 different colours and shades on them. Their faces are one colour, their arms another, and their legs yet another. Or all 3 may be on the same face. Yikes.

I am very light skinned and my elbow is very dark and i hate it but i dont bleach it. I know some brown girls who bleach there elbow and it gets brown but went back dark again because they are always leaning on it.
My knee is alright because i dont kneel alot.

I'm pretty light too I'm notr dark skinned persay. Actually what I use isn't a BLEACHING agent. Is Ultraquin. What it does is... tells that particular patch of skin that it's applied to, to stop producing the chemical in your body that causes darkness. So it's not a cortisone cream where it bleaches by encouraging the skin to shed layers... it just counteracts darkening. I only use it on my elbows really, and before, when I had black marks from popping pimples, I used it to get rid of those. Now that they're gone I only use it on elbows, and knees.
Bounty: Some girls are like that naturally. Your face tends to be darker because it's exposed to sun all year around. The colour of the arms is dependant on the activites of the person. Example: sometimes your arm get dark if you drive a lot with short sleeves. The reason.. your arms are always exposed and raised and the sun is coming through the windsheild. Then the legsd... 9 out of 10 people have lighter legs than the rest of their body... why? Because it's not exposed to sun as frequently. My legs are REALLY light. You see how my face is? Well my legs are lighter because I rarely wear short skirts or shorts. In the west indies... all my family.. I notice they're pretty even tone because their legs, arms, torso, and face get a lot of exposure to the sun... I live in Canada... I ain't walkin' around tryin' to tan for NOBODY in this "cool breeze" lol
Little Kim is the Queen of bleach. I saw a picture of her once with a light skinned face, and a black a$$. What's up with that. Personally, I would neva bleach. I don't know anyone that does. Wasn't that popular with the generation before us? Anywho, I love being brown skinned, and I tan sometimes, to even everything up.

The girls I mean are in Jamaica where sun reach all parts of them. Any discoloration they have is due to bleaching. Their faces are different from their necks etc.
