Before you all get antsy, I'll start this report and maybe the other's can chime in. Also, I don't have any pictures back yet. I am hoping tomorrow for that. So, please be patient.
Jomo, Molly, and I flew into Chicago's O'Hare airport on Friday, October 13th. Besides an hour long delay because of wind shears, no issues with the flight.
Jomo was amazed on his first subway trip. By the end of the weekend, even he was a pro at navigating Chicago's transit system.
We briefly toured Chicago and visited the Rainforest Cafe and John Han**** Building. Jomo had never been 94 floors up, so he was floored by the views and the wind speed on the outdoor walkway. I will post a few of pics on this tomorrow.
We talked him into trying wheat grass juice. An experience I doubt he will repeat.
Friday night, we had front row seats for Blue Man Group. While I can't exactly explain the show to you, Jomo loved it, even when we got sprayed with banana stuff. I have a picture to post on this tomorrow too.
Saturday, we went to the Navy Pier, took a very chilly boat ride on Lake Michigan (which Jomo swore had to be an ocean cause it was much too big!), and shopped till we dropped. Visited the likes of Burberry, Niketown, The Apple Store, Coach (I have a pic for you, Swell), Timberland, and misc. small unique Chicago stores.
D-Rock called me while we were on the Pier to inform me our 5 p.m. dinner had been pushed back to at least 5:30. He sounded so darn cute on the phone.
Finally, took the train to dinner. No issues finding it cause D gave great directions. In retrospect, had I known they were making me go to Wrigleyville, I would've protested. A Cardinal fan in Cubville.....imagine my horror! I could've been killed, you know. Jomo, Molly, and I arrived first to the Chinese restaurant (which I still can't remember the name of!) The really funny thing about this is no one really knew who had made the reservation or what it was under. I walk in and said I'm here to meet a big party; but I don't know what it is under or what they even look like. That lady must've thought.......um, yah.............!!!! It ended up being under ETJ and JamericanLady had made the reservation. And, Jilly had called several times to say she was on her way.
So, we cozied up to the bar and waited for D-Rock to arrive a few minutes later. He is adorably cute, although shorter then I expected, and just as sweet as can be. He is A LOT less talkative then I thought he would be. We chatted with D (and I got to talk to Kiki on the phone-she is supersweet as well) until we could take it no longer and had to go order some food.
Jilly finally arrives and, I gotta tell you, she is a real hoot. I am kind of sorry we did miss some of her "jilly time" in the car before the dinner. She can down wine like you wouldn't believe (Sorry, Jilly, you knew I was gonna say something!) and she is just plain funny. She got lost on the way and had to take a cab from her parking spot to the restaurant. She's also a major STALKER. If she isn't typing on here, you can bet she is looking at the screen with beady little eyes and writing down all the information down. (Again, you KNEW I was gonna!) She knows more about everyone and anyone then anyone else I know. And, besides knowing everyone in the Chicago area, I am pretty sure she knows most men in JA. (D, you want to chime in on this?) One wierd conicidence is that Jilly worked at a previous job with JamericanLady. I actually believe Jilly worked with everyone in the greater Chicago area at one time or another!
JamericanLady arrived about 2 hours after we initally set up the dinner time. She is so very nice; although quiet. I liked her dry sense of humor.
We all got along smashingly. Dinner was nice and long and the chatter flowed all over the topic spectrum. Lots of funny stories from Jilly, everyone telling about themselves, lots of laughter all the way around. I took a picture of everyone and a few group shots which I will post.
When we parted, Jilly and Jamerican Lady headed to a club while D-Rock, Jomo, Molly, and I headed for the subway. When we parted with the ladies and then, when we left D-Rock on the train, I felt a sense of loss. Didn't really want the night to end or see them go.
Guess I'll end this part here and let them chime in.
