Hey - I will admit it!! My last trip to Jamaica, before Sean moved here, I looked at booking us into an AI (as his birthday fell in that trip). And it was way too expensive to pay for both of us to stay there. We decided to spend the money on having a big birthday party for him with his friends, because we were pretty certain he would be leaving there shortly after to come to Canada. We stayed with his Grandma.

Some of the package deals are great, but if you have to pay for another person to stay there too, it gets pretty expensive, which is why we usually opted to stay with his Grandma, unless we were travelling around, then we would stay in small hotels.
