For us Canada Day is pretty big - except for alot of French Canadians who choose not to celebrate it but instead their own holiday.
I worked it b/c my place of work never closes but I do get paid 2 1/2 pay 2 checks later so it's all good.
July 4th is always quiet for us in the day and evening b/c most of our customers then are American. For me it makes no diff, cus most of my customers are UK.
