Re: I am not moving to Jamaica.......
i am moving... temporarily...
with my other half and his family... we're expecting, i have a year mat leave and i want my family together...
i have two children, yes, it will be a big change for them, but they will be going to prep (private) school, they have been to jamaica and spent a good chunk of a summer in harbour view (kingston), and they are young and resilient, they know a little about what to expect and they will figure out the rest... i expect this will be a good experience for them to open up the world to them and show them just how limited their views of things is... and country living will be a nice change for my city kids
my other half has been overseas working for over a year and we are in a financial position to live a comfortable life during my year off.. keeping most necessities of home... we will contribute equally...
oh, and he has married me...
i'm not sure if anyone thinks i'm crazy?? I think it's everything i think our family needs... a chance to really bond together without the stressors of the real, daily life interferring... and a getaway from Winter once his paper work is processed, we'll be heading back to canada and back to the real world....
am i or will i ever look to make a permanent move to jamaica? heck no... i have no desire to give up my north american life and expectations... i love jamaica but have been in the "real jamaica" enough to know that i'd get too frustrated with slackness and such that dictates life a little too often on the island, and honestly have no real desire to make it my permanent home until as long as i have that little maple leaf on my passport well maybe when i retire or am in a position to winter, but that's not what i consider a permanent move...
i do think my opportunity and situation is somewhat unique and am going to take advantage of it
that's just my rambling thoughts...
