LW..... This kind of story is unfortunately a very re-occuring one for many. It takes guts to put ur story out there for all to see and kudos to you!! You are right.... many need to see ur story..and maybe it will help others. Yes..there are a few successful ones...but many more like urs.
I have been on the other side of things and seen how some woman are treated without there knowledge. I've seen the phone calls being made to the so called loved ones asking for money or something...to then see how they are treated after they hang the phone up with them. I still get calls from someone that married and is heading here..asking to see me once he reaches (can't get the guy to leave me alone still  ).
Anyhow...As much as others may think that it was wrong for you to confront this other woman about ur story...I believe it to be the right thing. It of course hurts her...but it will be much much much worse down the road. I believe you are a tru blessing to her in disguise and maybe someday (if she listens) she will thank you.
Anyhow.... God bless...ur in my thoughts.
