Let me tell you, I just moved back from living in Jamaica for a year with my fiance and you will miss these things and more. I brought my three kids and we had no idea the "culture shock" that we would be in for. We washed our clothes by hand in the bathtub and it took months before my hands calloused over enough to stop bleeding every time. We had no car and so we were limited on how far, where and when we could go anywhere and I spent a small fortune on cab rides. In the winter the cold showers become painful and are not fun at all. No A/C means a fan going 24/7 for most of the year...I recommend a 6000 dollar JA Accutek...they are the best. After all of this I just have one thing to say....it was the best year of my life!! If the kids had enjoyed the schools there we would still be there but I must say I find an American education to be far superior, even after I paid for an expensive seventh day school. I do recommend having a good sum of money to live on as it is very expensive as far as food, utilities, calls home...etc. But it was beautiful every day and waking up to my man every day and working with him to make a life together was so rewarding. Hope my experience helps put things in perspective for others!!
